THEANINE SUPPRESSES APPETITE IN ANIMAL STUDY
Theanine (L-theanine) an ingredient in most Camellia sinensis teas
has been studied as a possible calming agent. Many individuals feel a sense of calm
soon after drinking a cup of green or black tea.
A recent study published in the journal Bioscience, Biotechnology
and Biochemistry suggests that theanine may modify eating behavior as well. Rats
suppressed their food intake after being fed theanine.
Some tea lovers believe that tea helps control their appetite.
Could it be the theanine in tea that is responsible for this? Only future studies
will tell. drpaulsupdates.org
