ANOTHER REASON FOR CHOOSING LOOSE LEAF TEAS?
Many of us prefer loose leaf (free leaf, whole leaf) teas because
they offer a greater variety of flavors than bagged teas. Many more of us, however,
prefer bagged teas because they usually cost less and they are more convenient to use.
A study appearing in the Journal of Hazardous Materials may add another,
albeit small, reason to choose loose leaf rather than bagged teas. The study analyzed
the fluoride, aluminum and other trace mineral content of various teas brought to the study
investigators by study participants. One aspect of the large study suggested that the
fluoride and aluminum content was often higher in bagged teas than in loose leaf teas.
Neither fluoride nor aluminum levels appeared to pose a health risk, however.
So, fluoride and aluminum content may be another factor in our decision
to go "bagged" vs. "loose leaf" for our morning cup of tea. drpaulsupdates.org
