GREEN TEA HELPS REDUCE COGNITIVE DEFICITS IN RATS WITH ALZHEIMER'S
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is increasing rapidly in the United States. Over 5 million people
have it today and likely 10 million baby boomers will develop it during their lifetimes. Can we prevent it?
Investigators recently reporting in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry found that the
primary elements of green tea, the catechins, helped prevent cognitive deficits associated with AD in rats.
AD rats administered green tea catechins over long periods of time had significantly reduced cognitive
deficits than similar rats receiving water without these catechins.
Although promising, it is not known how applicable this study is to humans. drpaulsupdates.org
