GREEN TEA REDUCES ALCOHOL-RELATED LIVER DAMAGE IN LABORATORY STUDY
Many remedies have been offered to prevent hangover when drinking alcoholic
beverages. Almonds, sports drinks, tomato juice and drinking water, for example, have been
used with mixed results.
But this study is not about hangover. It is about liver damage that can
play a role in hangover. Where a hangover is typically short term, liver damage is long
term. Those of us who drink, too much sometimes, may want to add green tea to our list of
hangover remedies. Why?
A group of scientists found that alcohol-exposed liver cells sustain less
damage when green tea or its primary element, EGCG, is added. The scientists reported in
the journal Phytotherapy Research.
It is not know how applicable this study is to those of us who drink
too much. drpaulsupdates.org
