WILL GREEN TEA FOSTER ENDOTHELIAL CELL (ARTERY LINING) HEALTH?
Evidence is accumulating that drinking green tea may reduce one's risk of cardiovascular disease but, if it does, the mechanism is unclear. The first study below is a human study designed to assess the potential role of green tea on endothelial function in the brachial artery. The second study is a review study.
Note: Living endothelial cells form the inner artery lining and are positioned between liquid blood flowing in the artery and living tissues of the artery wall. Endothelial health is critical to the health of the artery wall. In ill health they invite the absorption of cholesterol into the artery wall and the formation of thrombi that are associated with cardiovascular events.
