WILL GREEN TEA POLYPHENOLS, VITAMIN E AND VITAMIN C WORK SYNERTISTICALLY AS ANTIOXIDANTS?
Green tea polyphenols such as EGCG, vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) and vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid) are important antioxidants often studied as separate agents. The following study examines possible synergistic activity between these three antioxidants.
Note: SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate) micelles containing linoleic acid are frequently used as a standard way to measure peroxidation (oxidation) processes.

The investigators concluded that:
"the mixture of the green tea polyphenol, vitamin E and vitamin C could act synergistically to protect lipid peroxidation."
The investigators also found that synergistic activity included the regeneration of green tea polyphenols by vitamin C and the regeneration of vitamin E by green tea polyphenols.
